Day 10 of 57: Lady in Black

So on day 10 of 57 Days of Dresses I was feeling bold, and what better color to wear then black - all black.
We drove by this electrical substation on our way home from the grocery store and I thought it'd be a great place to take some pictures of my pretty black dress. 60 cycle hum, here I come!
This black tiered dress is a fab find at the Salvation Army. And, for $1 the only price better is free. It has spaghetti tie straps, and a wide scrunched waist. There's crocheted lace that drapes around the entire bust and upper back. The dress's fabric is completed hemmed with tiny 1/4" full stitched pleats that created interesting texture and movement.

day 9 of 57: Summer Sundress at the Farmers' Market

Today's day 9 of 57 Days of Dresses! Jason and I went to Nashville Farmers' Market this morning before he dropped me off at work. We got watermelon, blueberries and sourdough bread! It was a beautifully blush summer morning, and I felt that a summery sundress would be just the thing for a saunter down at the market!
I got this vintage sundress at Fanny's House of Music/ Diamond Star Halo Vintage. The best part about it is I had sundress just like this when I was a little girl (I'll post a photo of little girl me in that very dress later)! It has delicate spaghetti straps, a zipper back and a high waist. It's an A-line style and I love the floral pattern on it - makes me feel like I'm on vacation! It's a stylish and simple piece, and I can't wait to wear it again!

Day 8 of 57: Double Dress Feature: Work and Play!

Today's day 8 of 57 Days of Dress, and I wanted this one to be extra special, seeing that I'm now in my second week it!
As most of you may or may not know - now you do - I work at Hard Rock Cafe, and my uniform is the very garment these 57 days are in celebration of: the dress! So, why not show it off for 57 Days of Dresses? Working in a minidress is a pain in the ass, but it makes for great pictures! My work dress is an A-line black mini dress with purple piping around the sleeve cuffs and collar. It has a hips-to-neck front zipper.
As soon as work's done, I get the hell out of my work dress and change into something more comfortable! After diner with Jason at Mellow Mushroom I saw a construction site and all that gravel and wood looked like a fun place to play in a late '90s throwback I got when I was in high school!
I found this dress in a box of clothes my mother still has at the nest. It's a long-sleeve mini-dress that's black with a white floral pattern. The sleeves have buttoned cuffs (the buttons are long gone). The skirt is scalloped and ruffled and has a "W" hem to create wavy movement. It has a side button closure.

Day 7 of 57: The New Wave Nights

So, on day 7 of 57 Days of Dresses Jason and I went to the Psychedelic Furs show at the Cannery. The Furs played there Talk Talk Talk album, and then a second set of non-stop hits! It was new wave heaven, and I thought it'd be only fitting to pull out my best new wave dress in the closet.
This awesome dress is a vintage 1980's wiggle mini-dress I got at this Memphis boutique (the name of the place eludes me). It has bat sleeves (which isn't shown off very well in any of the photos, bummer), a hips-to-collar front zipper, 2 breast pockets, side pockets, and a matching belt! The top of the dress is loose and bouncy, while the skirt is form-fitting.
The Furs put on an awesome show, and Richard Butler is a dashingly handsome older man! I'm talking pretty Englishman in the echelons of David Bowie or Simon Le Bon. I'm happy we went, and I can't wait for Duran Duran to make their way to Nashville. Hopefully soon.

waiting in line for the show to start

Day 6 of 57: Guitar warrior and hound's tooth mini!

On day 6 of 57 Days of Dresses, there's this franken-guitar that's always hanging around in a corner in our apartment, so here I am, play-pretending to be a superstar guitar heroine in this super cute mini dress! It's sleeveless and has an empire waist with a cream and gray hound's tooth pattern on the top, and a solid gray layered ruffle skirt. I got this skirt at a badass swap party recently. God, I love swap parties and I can't wait for the next one!
P.S. - I don't play guitar. I do play bass. But, I'm sure you already know that.

Day 5 of 57: Mint, Rosemary and my pretty white shirtdress!

On day 5 of 57 Days of Dresses, I was pulling up to Gojo for lunch, I decided to stop and smell the herb growing in the back of the building. An aromatic bush of Rosemary was thriving, with sprigs of spearmint shooting out here and there.
Also, check out the wonderful '80s dress I bought at the fab little vintage boutique in Memphis that I, sadly, cannot remember the name of. It's a white shirt-dress with a black paint splatter pattern on it. It has a high waist with belt loops and an open skirt. I love the black piping around the collar and lapel and the 3 big black buttons that go down to the waist.

Day 4 of 57: Dude, who hit my van? And check out my awesome blue dress!

So day 4 of 57 Days of Dresses features an awesome late '80s or early '90s blue minidress I got at Flashback Vintage on Elliston Place (sadly, this awesome joint closed down a couple months ago). It's a vibrant blue with a darling floral/ leaf pattern on it. It has a slouched waist tie and a single key-hole button closure on the back of the neck.
By the way, Jason and I would like to know who hit our van? It wasn't like this last time I drove it!
