day 48 of 57: Electric Barbarella

On day 48 of 57 Days of Dresses I had my first ladies' night out in Asheville. We went to the Orange Peel to see Wanda Jackson perform some great roots rock 'n' roll. The 74-year-old has a signature growl in her voice, and it was great to watch her perform.
I bought this bodycon dress from a local designer at the Asheville Downtown Market. It's hand made and it came with the matching vinyl belt, which is awesome! It's hot pink with electric violet strips and piping around the short sleeve and neckline. The skirt has an unfinished hem. Nothing better than local couture!

day 33 of 57: Pretty in Pink, again!

So on day 33 of 57 Days of Dresses, Erin and I went to all our favorite stores - Lowe's, The Home Depot, Advanced Auto Parts and Dick's Sporting - in search of the perfect birthday presents for her boyfriend! By the way, her boyfriend and I have the same birthday. So after a long day of man stores, Erin took these great pictures for me. Many thanks!
This sweet pink dress is an awesome American Apparel find. The lace bodice is sleeveless with princess seams. The chiffon skirt is folded over itself, and not hemmed, so the two soft layers of fabric move elegantly across my legs. The dress has a seamed waistline (which I have set off with a skinny brown belt), a boat neckline and a side zipper closure. What a beautiful dress.

Dress Retrospective

So guess what I didn't wear yesterday? You got it, folks, a dress. I just couldn't bring myself to it, so I took a day off, but I'll be in a dress today, and I'll have photos posted, I promise! In the mean time how about a retrospective of some of my favorite dresses!

day 21 of 57: Halter dress field study

Today is day 21 of 57 Days of Dresses - almost to the halfway mark! Jason and I were in the mood for a jaunt at the Percy Warner park, and came across this enchanted field. Good thing we had the camera, because it was just the place for today's dress.
I have on a fabulous halter dress I got at this great little vintage/ used boutique called Karma Rags in Huntsville, AL.The fabric is white with a pink floral pattern on it. Spaghetti halter straps ties in the back and the bodice has 4 large white functioning buttons that go down to a banded empire waist. The full circle skirt hits right above the knee. The back has a zip closure. I like to set off the waist with a wide waist belt. This is a great day dress, and can function well for low-key summer night time events too. Long live halter dresses!
