Day 53 of 57: Polka, Dot?

Day 45 of 57: From Nashville, with love
No fancy story. No exciting adventure. I just got done from my lunch shift at the Hard Rock and Jason picked me up. If I recall, we we're going to do anything special. I think we just went home!
This is a vintage A-line dress I found in the sale bin of Local Honey (I miss you, Local Honey. And you too, Diamond Star Halo Vintage). What a find! It was only like 5 bucks or something equally as cut-rate!
The dress has multi-color pinstripes and shoulder button detail that scream 1982. The short sleeve are slightly belled, and the dress has a removable waist tie. The dress is flattering with the at-the-knee skirt. So long, Nashville, and thanks for all the fish.

day 42 of 57: Boop-Oop-A-Doop
So on day 42 of 57 days of dresses I'm tired, again, after a long day of doing! I was going to the supermarket with mom, and when we pulled up there was a very friendly but lost and dirty Shih Tzu hanging out at the entrance. I couldn't help but to help the pooch out and take him by the Humane Society in hopes that his owners were looking for him (he was wearing a collar, but it had no tag). Alas, the pound was closed for the day, so he ended up spending the night with me at my apartment. After a major bath and a botched hair cut he was ready for a night of pampered care and loving attention - he couldn't sleep in the bed though!
After taking care of the pooch, I smelled like a wet dog, too. But, I was still in style with my black and white polka-dot halter dress. I bought this dress at a rock 'n' roll shop while I was living in Phoenix, Ariz. It's a total Betty dress, and I love it! It has an empire waist and a V-neck. The halter bodice ties back with four spaghetti straps. The back has a pleasing midway scoop, and the skirt hits just above the knee. This dress just screams summer, and that's why it's lasted in my wardrobe for 5 years.

day 41 of 57: Jump street
On day 41 of 57 Days of Dresses my mom and I went to lunch at Jamaciaway, then hit up the Andy Warhol exhibit at the Frist. The silver mylar baloon exhibit is the coolest installation I've ever walked into. We both really enjoyed it, and the we went to mÄmbu for diner later on. I wanted to wear something that looked like I was going to the Factory, so what better than something polka-dot and something bold?
So, I wore two green dresses in a row, but now two jumper dresses in a row? You better believe it. This is a red jumper dress that I got at Thriftsmart for a few bucks. It's a bold burgundy red that buttons in the front. The skirt falls slightly above the knee and the sleeveless bodice has a plunged V-neckline. The sleeveless straps are attached to suspenders that button to the scooped back. I'm wearing a polka-dot shirt underneath and polka-dot vintage pumps. With Debbie Harry and Liza Minnelli as my backdrops, this dress is beyond rad.

day 29 of 57: Native charm
Today is day 29 of 57 Days of Dresses, and I am past the halfway mark of my dress celebration! It's been a long time coming, and I still have a long way to go. By the time classes start this fall I'll be more than happy to wear my most comfortable pair of pants. Who knows, maybe I'll even start wearing jumpers and rompers, just because I'm so in lust for pants.
Anyways, On the other side of my apartment building's parking lot there's a gnarly growth of wild sour grapes, wild passion fruit (the inedible variety, unfortunately) and orange trumpet flowers. What a convenient place for some photos?
This darling dress is a vintage piece I got at Karma Rags in Huntsville, AL. It's a circle dress with a fabulous Native American/ Southwestern-inspired pattern. The dress has bell sleeves with lace trim, a seamed waistline and a back zipper. The U-neck is adorned with pleated ruffles that go around the entire neck. The the circle skirt has a wide hem and a ruffly exposed seam that goes around it. This is a wonderful and comfortable dress that feels great to wear.

day 28 of 57: My dress, lolipop!
On day 28 of 57 Days of Dresses I got out of work late, and didn't feel like cooking, so off to Rosepepper's we go! Dinner was awesome, and we got a prime parking spot right outside of the front door. The wait was just long enough for us to do a sidewalk photo shoot in front of this interesting window art right by the entrance. We're still trying to get the hang of the backlight flash on my camera, but it's coming along okay!
This is a fabulous '80s vintage A-line dress Jason got me at a vintage boutique in Memphis. I love this dress. The diagonal pastel stripes are so feminine, and totally flattering. It has an elastic waist with side belt loops, which I have a skinny brown leather belt looped through it. The 3/4 bell sleeves have a pearlesque button securing each cuff, allowing the bell sleeve to drape over it. The dress also sports a boat neck with three pearlesque buttons detailing the left shoulder. Yay for candy-colored stripes!
